Answer: A coronavirus is a kind of common virus that causes an infection in your nose, sinuses, or upper throat. Most of corona viruses aren’t dangerous.
In early 2020, after a December 201 outbreak in China, the World Health Organization (WHO) identified SARS-Cov-2 as a new type of corona virus.
Covid-19 is a disease caused by SARS-Cov-2 that can trigger what doctors call a respiratory tract infection.
Symptoms of Covid-19

Symptoms of corona virus are:

How does the Corona virus Spread

Most of time, it spreads when a sick person cough or sneezes. They can spray droplets as far as 6 feet away. If you breathe them in or swallow them, the virus can get into your body. Some people who have the virus don’t have symptoms, but they can still spread the virus.

2.    Explain any one of the following: [1x4=4]

Answer-
The given stanza has been taken from the poem “An Epitaph” which is written by Walter de la Mare. He was born in 1873 in the village of Charlton in Kent.
In this stanza poet says that he knows a beautiful lady who lies in the Epitaph. She is there in the memory of her beloved. The poet finds her to be most beautiful lady in West Country. But he feels that beauty is short lived and vanishes very fast. And when he dies who will remember her.

We can't be satisfied as long as the Nigro’s basic
mobility is from a smaller Ghetto to a larger one.
Answer- The given sentence has been taken from “I Have A Dream” which is written by Martin Luther King Jr. He was born in 1929 and got Nobel Prize in 1964.
Here the orator Martin Luther King Jr wants some change in the life of Negros slave are leading hard life. According to him they must go to the large place from the small Ghetto.

Mother’s announcement shook me. “Nanukaka is coming.” She said.
Answer- The given stanza has been taken from “A Pinch of Snuff” which is written by Manohar Malgaonkar. He was born in 1913.
The author was shocked when his mother told him that his brother Nanukaka was coming to visit them. the author was aware of the whimsical nature of his maternal uncle, therefore he wanted to make some exurses to stop his uncle from coming to home but his mother stopped him from doing that.

I believe  that the  civilization India has evolved is not to be beaten in the world . Nothing can equal the seed sown by our ancestors.
Answer- The given stanza has been taken from “Indian Civilization and Culture” which is written by Mahatma Gandhi. He was born in 1869. He is known as father of Nation.
Gandhiji explains that India civilization is unbeatable when compared to the other civilizations of the world. Moral values taught by our ancestors is the base of our civilization and cannot be equated.

4.    Write a letter to the principal of your school asking for leave due to illness.[5 marks]

a)What is civilization in the real sense of the term?
Ans. Civilization, in the real sense of the term is the deliberate and voluntary restriction of wants. This alone increases and promotes contentment, real happiness and capacity for service.

b)Why is Zakir Hussain overwhelmed?
Ans. He is overwhelmed by the trust his people have placed in him by electing him to the highest office in the country.

In what dress did the writer go to the minister along with Nanukaka?
Ans. Writer went there in Jodharpur coat with a huge orange turban tied round his head.

d)What does Martin Luther say about the life of the Negroes?
Ans. He says that the life of the Negroes is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. They still live on a lonely island of poverty.

e)What are the dramatic structures of a tragedy?
Answer- the dramatic structures of a tragedy are- exposition, complication, crisis, denouement, and catastrophe.

Answer- The two works of Shakespeare are Macbeth and Merchant of Venice.

g)
Why had it come out its hole near the trough?
It had come out of its hole because it was thirsty and it wanted to drink water.

h)Why is Macavity termed a criminal?
Macavity is termed a criminal because he commits all sorts of crimes. He plunders larders, ransacks jewel cases, satifles pet dogs, breaks glass-panes, steal important documents from Foreign office or plans and drawings from the Admiralty.

 

6.    (A) Write the summary of any one of the following poems:

Sweetest Love I do Not Goe

This poem “Sweetest Love I do Not Goe” is written by John Donne. In this poem he described the impulse of love. Poet had a girlfriend whom he loved very much. He is afraid of aparting from his beloved.
                                                          Once poet told his beloved, dear I want to go somewhere far and feel loneliness because if in the future any time it happens that I have to live without you, how will I feel without you. He says to his beloved not to bemoan nor weeping because he will come back again in her life as the sun sets in the evening and rise in the morning. He says his beloved it does not mean I feel boring with you or I do not like you. Actually I love you more than I so in my absence please don’t weep because if you weep and your tears come out you feel that is my blood coming out. He says his beloved that we both are made for each other and we can’t live without each other.

Song of Myself

This poem “Song of Myself” is composed by an American poet Walt Whitman. He is known as an individualistic poet.
In this poem poet has presented the life of American people. He has presented his concept of life and says that he enjoys himself and sings alone. He thinks that the feeling all the American people are same. He also says that there is similarity between man and in their opinion. Poet says that the atom of the blood of every individual is same.                                                          
He is thirty seven years old and is in sound health. He hopes to stay healthy till his death. The poet says that we should not harm the nature. It can be dangerous if we harm the nature. Nature always looks beautiful in its original.

Now the Leaves Are Falling Fast


“Now the leaves are falling fast” is one of the finest lyric poems which has been composed by the modern poet W.H Auden. The title of this poem suggests us about the death of human beings like the falling fast of leaves.

Human beings are going to their grave very fast due to suffering and diseases. In this poem, the poet tries to expose the frustration and crisis in modern life. The poet says that all fake love to one another. The messenger of death is present to snatch the real delight of people.

People who are alive today will die tomorrow. This expression suggests that human life is no better than death. The underlying idea in this poem is that death is certain. Like tree man also has to meet his end someday.

Ode to Autumn

This poem is written by John Keats. In this poem John Keats describes the beauty and characteristics of autumn season. He says that autumn season is good season because in this season people are happy. They feel very good because this season is neither hot nor very cool. Wind blows very friendly. In this season new leaves and fruits grow on the trees. In this season nature looks very beautiful because there is greenery everywhere. All people feel to work in this season even the birds also sing. The sun rays of this season make the fruit fleshy, fat and tasty. In this season nature remains calm and cool.

Discipline is the necessity of life. A man without discipline can achieve nothing worthwhile in life. Discipline is the very important condition of progress, stability and strength. Discipline is necessary in all walks of life. Without discipline, there will be disorder and lawlessness. It costs nothing but wins a lot.
